This is a shot of my Mom reading the paper in the morning. It's something she does every morning. This is a totally candid shot; she did not know I was photographing her because I was carrying on with my usual morning routine but secretly had the iphone in my robe pocket. I didn't do much post-processing on this (the original image was slightly blurry)....just cleaned it up in BeFunky and pulled it into Portray which gives this soft charcoal effect. 

A favorite from my Ugly Beauties series. She’s like a Diana Ross caricature. I LOVE how the Repix drips create tear-induced mascara smears. The amazing thing about the Ugly Beauties series is that every image evolved from just one mannequin photo. Check out my workflow on a similar piece {Cracked}.

This is another lucky shot from my Drive By Shootings series. I experimented with adding light (using Lens Flare) from the light fixture but I prefer the stillness of this edit and the moody, noir feel. If you look VERY closely, you can see the wires connect to the telephone pole in the distance. 

I discovered a nature park close to home and took my iPhone4 to snap pictures. When I came across this bridge, I had to photograph it — my favorite subjects are ordinary objects. Plus, bridges have always seemed magical to me, kind of like portals to otherworldly places. This post processed version of the bridge captures a magically peaceful quality I felt in the woods that day. I have the sense that if I step onto the bridge, I'll walk out on the other side in a brand new world. 

:: Photo-Heart Connection: One thing most people don't know about me is that I'm terrified of doing new things. Something as simple as finding a nature park to visit isn't something I would typically do without a lot of motivation. That's what I'm enjoying most about iPhoneography - it's dragging me out of my shell. When I muster up the courage to get out of my comfort zone, I can discover wonderful, magical places!

In my grandmother’s room, everything is just as she left it, as if she just died yesterday instead of over 20 years ago. This is another photo captured at my aunt’s home, where grandmother passed away. My grandmother, aunt and mother are all great seamstresses, so this image captures a very personal aspect of their family story. 

The August Creative Iphoneography Challenge is to photograph a pattern and use it in a work of art. I photographed the brightly colored square pattern on a journal (see below) and blended it with a recycled purple flower image. I used Aquarella and Photo Artista Haiku to tone down the bright pattern to a gentle watercolor. The  completed abstract feels happy and playful to me. See the Workflow.

Another Drive By Shooting. Since this photo captured mostly the inside of the underpass as I drove through it, I played up the contrast in shapes and colors giving it an abstract look. I wanted to create a balance between the sharpness of the straight lines and the softness of the grunge effect. 

I just joined another Google+ community called Post Processing Enthusiasts. I’m finding I enjoy these groups, where everyone takes the same photo and processes it different ways. Great learning experience and fun to see others’ artistic interpretations.

I’ve been trying to replicate some of the flower iphoneography that I’ve seen by Paul (Skipology) and David Hayes. Hasn’t come out quite the way I wanted until this one. Now to see if I can repeat on one my own flower photos….

This is the photo I just sent off to the Lightbox Photographic Gallery MobileMagic Exhibition July Call for Entries. I took the original photo of this old window at my aunt’s home. Lots of good photography subject matter there — every object has the look and feel of an old polaroid.

This image was one of the first taken from my Drive By Shootings series. I prop the iPhone4 on my car dashboard and use the headphones to snap the photos. Lots of them look like crap (just the sky or tops of buildings lol) but sometimes I get something worth processing. I didn’t even realize I had taken such a clean shot of the signs. I love the grunge effects added with Modern Grunge but I’m not sure if it’s too heavy in this image.
